Moving Cleveland police headquarters to the East Side is wrong

The move to a new Cleveland police headquarters along the Opportunity Corridor between Kinsman Road and East 79th Street seems more of a political move than a practical one (“Mayor: New police HQ will spur development,” Dec. 6). Police headquarters is a government entity and should be centrally located in the downtown vicinity. It is not a commercial enterprise. The location would make it difficult for West Siders and it would place the headquarters in an area with a reputation of having a high crime rate.

The Opportunity Corridor should be built with private investment incentives, not public ones.

Reconsider relocating police headquarters to the former Plain Dealer building. No reason was ever given for its rejection. Will the Justice Center property become a new hotel?
